Saying Something without Saying It

This passage is from “The Wise Man’s Fear” by Patrick Rothfuss.

“The buildings were made of the same rough stone as the landscape, blending into their surroundings. The Sky was overcast, adding another shade of grey.”

Mr. Rothfuss just told us the buildings were grey without telling us the buildings were grey. How cool is that?

Enhancing my skills so I can write like this is my goal.
